Critics Consensus

Bliss may be too narratively and visually intense for less adventurous viewers, but should trigger the titular state in those with a taste for hard-hitting horror.

Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Madison is a force of terrifying nature, her fracturing psyche a cornucopia of manic delirium that's as fascinating as it is discombobulating. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 28, 2019 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times It's 80 tedious minutes of shouting, swearing, nudity and gore, cut together with the deftness of a chainsaw. Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Christy Lemire RogerEbert.com There's a relentless shrillness at work here that makes the movie more grating than exciting. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 27, 2019 Full Review Trevor Johnston Radio Times Wilson is amiably befuddled, and even if Bliss doesn't wholly deliver, its sheer creative energy is, in itself, invigorating. Rated: 3/5 Jan 21, 2021 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine There is nothing here that seems to surprise or challenge - unless it is to test its audience's patience. Rated: 3/10 Dec 26, 2020 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts [Dora Madison] is amazing in this performance. Rated: 6/10 Oct 13, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Cece 2 I’d also like a hit of whatever the critics were smoking to rate this so highly—it was pretty bad. Terrible characters, lousy acting, obnoxious strobe effects, and dialogue ripped from tough-acting middle school boys. Annoyed at myself for waiting for it to get good through the entire movie. Never got there and had a Dumb ending Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/24 Full Review Zommo T So a really peculiar movie, it tells about the uneasiness of a painter under the effect of a heavy drug, it also tells about the "friends" she has near her and that damn painting to be completed, the choice of colors is visually extraordinary it's a continuous play of warm and dull colors with particular camera angles, the technical side is mind-blowing, the story however is slow and agonizing a movie that lasts 1 hour and 20 that seems to last 3, very heavy (although I liked the movie) Obviously being a horror film the blood and gore is not lacking, a really raw and difficult film to watch, an excellent film Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Darren D Director Joe Begos, with the help from an energetic & intense leading performance from Dora Madison, makes "Bliss" a fun, wild & visually bloody drug fueled sexual trip into vampirism. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review KerryWhite's S 6/10. 62/100. | I swear if this movie causes a migraine within the next day or 2, I'm knocking at least .2 points from its rating. So much strobing it's ridiculous. And I felt this movie on a different level than most ppl would bc of 1 thing that shall not be named, but also the crave for creating art and getting fame and money from it. Or just appreciation really. It can be mentally draining putting in all the hard work, do a great job, but have little to no attention or appreciation for it. 😵 Creating art can be Murder. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Shayla S A fresh and unique take on the vampire genre. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review ari v A decent attempt at indie art horror. Somewhat fresh, creative and 'alive', but not quite enough so in either department to really stand out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
