Richard Linklater's Blue Moon tells the story of legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart bravely facing the future as his professional and private life unravel at the opening night party for his former partner's hit show Oklahoma! An amazing acting performance by Ethan Hawke, in what feels like a stage production. Fascinating and horrible in equal measure to watch someone self destruct, but I would have liked more dialogue and use of a quality supporting cast.

A sad story, beautifully acted, well paced, with lovely piano accompaniment, but it seems more like a one act play, than a movie. I wish they had widen the story/character lens a tad. Still the movie has much to say, and my audience listened avidly.

It was watching a live theater production but better because I could hear all the dialogue and see the actors' faces up close. The casting was well done. Ethan Hawkes played a tragic Lorenz Hart well. It was a very satisfying production.
