Rebecca S SPOILER: I thought this movie was absolutely gorgeous. Some people are saying it's horror but I think Mia transformed into a beautiful creature...nothing scary about her beautiful tail and delicate gills. And like all girls should, ultimately grew to love, own and use her lovely body like nature meant her to. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Melanie B This movie felt more authentic into the view of a teenager, often no dialogue just body language and frustrated parents that pretend to care but don't really delve into their daughters needs. Meanwhile, Mia is going through crisis. Early on in the movie you get the sense something more is going on with her than just being the new girl. It's clear she is going to metamorphosis into something early on. I was hoping she was turning into a selkie instead of a mermaid and that she might discover something about where she came from, but I didn't mind that she doesn't. The main theme of the story is not to answer all the questions left often, but to follow Mia's transformation through puberty into her true self. I liked how she would have urges she didn't understand and that her final form is not your typical glamorous display of mermaids. Felt more realistic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review I'Esha S This movie was very interesting. She's very adaptable, seeing that it wasn't hard for her to make friends. At first I was thinking that maybe her friends didn't reflect who she was but she was very unpredictable. There were disappointing moments but those are the perks of them good ole teenage years. Curious, adventurous, spontaneous, just wanting to experience life as it comes with no regrets. Although I'm pretty sure she was aware of her actions but she wasn't afraid of the consequences for the simple fact that everyday she was discovering herself, that her time was coming and nothing in that life mattered anymore. When it came time for her to go, I was a bit nervous for her with all the worries coming to my mind of how can you see yourself living life differently being a fish but with knowledge of a human. Into the dark waters, I guess the little mermaid would be better understood but in reality, the idea just seems really scary. Later I came to the assumption that most likely her mind just as her body made the transition to transform her senses and maybe her memory, so that she could be at peace with her new habitat. Wonderful film, mermaids are my favorite. I gave a 3 and a half star because, with the parents, they're was not explanation, she left without am explanation, so its just a huge question mark in that area, without. Daughter to return to. The name is Brilliant; "Blue my mind" Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/23 Full Review Kayla H Not the best, far from the worst. Some parts struggled to keep my attention but I enjoyed the body horror elements. I also enjoyed the ending, but I know it won't be for everyone. The friendships and rest of the plot also failed to really engage me, so do with that what you will. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/22 Full Review brad p ‘Blue My Mind' is a Strange, Exceptional Debut with Elements of Body Horror Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member If I give 3 stars, that's overrated. This film has a storyline that is very messy and difficult to think logically. This film has an adult scene where this girl is raped and reveals the intimate parts of a man. What does it mean? Why does this film show the intimate part of the man? Then, what film is this? Talking about a mermaid or a teenager who is going through puberty? And then it is so disgusting that the girl eats the goldfish alive. I'm just giving advice to the audience not to watch this film because it's just a waste of time and it doesn't have a good moral message, it doesn't have a good screenscript, and the storyline doesn't make sense. Kevin Maher Times (UK) The tension dissipates. And the final pay-off, which is effectively Wedler trussed up in the world's worst mermaid costume, is a borderline insult. Rated: 2/5 Jun 21, 2019 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It is flawed, but has a good performance by Wedler. Rated: 2/5 Jun 19, 2019 Full Review Jessica Kiang Variety Rather like its misleadingly punny title, "Blue My Mind" wants to work on multiple levels, but falters to become a slightly unconvincing, if well-made, single-entendre. Nov 12, 2018 Full Review Dev Shea Nightmarish Conjurings It was a relatable coming of age story with a twist. It was heartbreaking and hopeful and I can’t praise it enough. Sep 15, 2022 Full Review Dax Ebaben Bloody Disgusting Blue My Mind is equal parts beautiful and wonderfully repulsive.
