A Spanish dance troupe gathers in a threadbare studio to perform a dress rehearsal for a flamenco interpretation of Federico Garcia Lorca's play "Blood Wedding." Choreographer and lead dancer Leonardo (Antonio Gades) is interviewed as the rest of the troupe makes final back-stage preparations. Without dialogue and through their movements alone, the dancers tell the tragic tale of two doomed lovers and a bridegroom who meet their fates in a violent knife fight.

Robert Dunbar Philadelphia Gay News This is a serious, even masterful study of an art form. These dancers achieve a hypnotic, edge-of-the-cliff concentration. It's like watching a high-wire act. May 26, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member It's the movie dance can say everything about passioned love and jelaousy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Not what I expected but nonetheless captivating. Worth a second watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member My first Saura. Elegant and artistic story telling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Very simple set-up: ballet company prepares for and then rehearses short story. But somehow Saura's essentially two part tale is fascinating, in the first part for its detail and patience, in the second part for its evocation of strong emotions even though it's heightened the unreality of the performance.
