Audience Member The Shaman is scary in it and I loved this film. Bodycount is one of Deodato's greatest and goriest film ever. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Slasher about a masked killer dicing young people camping. Awful but hilarious dialogue and dubbing, decent kills, nice atmospheric outdoors setting and lots of Euro-awkwardness in general. Entertaining cheese. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Body Count is one of the many slashers lost in the tsunami of the genre in the 80's. It has yet to have a decent DVD release and is actually a rather good slasher with a neat twist. It's about an "Indian shaman" who returns to a campground every so often to slaughter stupid teenagers. As you and I both know, it really isn't a shaman, but a guy in a mask, made clearly obvious. The killer looks cool, and that poster is just so wicked awesome, with the blue and red light shining on both sides of the mask. The theme is great, too. However, the kills aren't really that inventive or creative, so it loses some points for that. Surprisingly there are (SPOILER WARNING) 3 killers: Ben (in the mask), Robert (kills his wife) and an unknown assailant who killed four teens 15 years before. The cool thing about this movie is that the killer from 15 years ago remains a mystery, and he (or perhaps a she?) makes an appearance at the end in the mask. (SPOILERS OVER!) One moment I find particularly hilarious is when this girl is running away from the killer, instead of hiding BEHIND a tree, she hides INSIDE a log and expects the killer to not find her! Of course, I think you know what happens to her. Overall a good flick, definitely worth checking out (if you can find it). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member I was expecting this to be pretty good since it's directed by Ruggero Deodato who made "Cannibal Holocaust" and "House On The Edge Of The Park", but "Body Count" is really a rather average (and goofy!) slasher movie- college kids go on camping trip in the woods and are stalked by a masked maniac. You think Deodato would add some interesting twists to this, but he just goes through the motions. Worth seeing for appearances by Russ Meyer regular Charles Napier and David Hess. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Almost like watching Friday The 13th but not as good Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Damn I've seen a lot of Giallos but even in this one I still did't understood what was going on. Like most Giallos it's all style over substance it has some good kills and a cheesy synth score along with a candy eating fat guy for comedic relief. Check it if you like this genre of film.
