Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times This is a B-movie through and through, but thanks in large part to a deep cast of familiar faces and reliable character actors, it's a solid crime thriller that respects the true-life blueprint of the story. Rated: 3/4 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety This trashy trawl through a fictionalized version of the “West Mesa Murders" is the kind of dubiously moralizing exploitation exercise that makes Sound of Freedom look like a noble class act by comparison. Jul 1, 2024 Full Review Michael A. Smith MediaMikes The film is well cast, with Gibson and Van Holt leading the way. Rated: 4/5 Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com An above average take on a true crime. Rated: 6/10 Jul 30, 2024 Full Review Andy Klein FilmWeek (LAist) It's interesting, but you have to know going in that the basic case was never solved, and they stay true to that. Jul 13, 2024 Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture The culprit behind these murders has still never been found, which this screenplay mostly uses as fodder for a bit of psycho-thriller exploitation. David M Very good story. Kept our interest. Worth seeing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review wayne h I struggle to believe the comments left by the critics that have commented on this title even saw the same movie that I watched. It is a lesson in how not to make a motion picture, no third act and fraudulently lures participants into thinking they are watching a Mel Gibson movie, when he is only in half a dozen very limited scenes. There probably are worse movies, I struggle to think of one though. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/05/25 Full Review kevin s Distracting Mel Gibson and 50 Cent performances are the highlights of this….movie? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/25 Full Review Bradley W This movie is all over the place. The director needs to give up as it was honestly like a film of short stories that were impossible to follow. If this is based on true story it didn't hit the mark. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Audience Member Wow. That was bad. Ole Mel must be broke. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/25 Full Review Joe S I can't believe Mel Gibson took this role. He must desperate for money. The movie is choppy and disjointed. The director is now on my avoid at all costs list. This could have been done so much better. There was no way to tell what the time of progression was except for a couple of blah blah blah weeks months later. The attempted misdirection was pathetic.
