Bobby L @BobbyInLA Nov 13 The movie "Boston to Philly" is an unflinching examination of relationships, loss and redemption in this stunning indie film. Director, writer and actor Ralph Celestin who plays the male lead Rome Boston blew me away from his first scene with his raw intensity, a truly power actor. Ralph Celestin’s film surprised me with the heartfelt story-telling. As an indie film, Ralph included an impressive number of locations and a large capable and diverse cast. There is undeniable chemistry between Ralph (Boston) and Mia Mendez (Philly), and the two were showcased in a number of very emotionally satisfying scenes, including my favorite one in the rain. Mia Mendez also shines in her role and gives a layered performance. The capable ensemble cast helped drive the story to a satisfying ending. Cinematographer Eric Lovett Jr. masterfully captured the characters emotions, and there are many gorgeous shots perfectly framed of the City of Philadelphia. The lighting and cinematography of the film is breathtaking. I am not the least surprised "Boston to Philly" received multiple awards in the festival circuit! If you are a fan of great story-telling, give this rare gem a watch, you will be well rewarded. See more Carey V 04/09/2024 Wow... This was SO Bad in every respect. See more Artist E 02/11/2024 This is a cool teen movie that talks about some deep stuff. It might seem like just a basic love story, but it's actually a bunch of different stories all tangled up. Definitely worth checking out! See more Joe C 01/16/2024 Boston to Philly ain't your regular flick. It's a gripping indie ride that spins a tale of friendship, redemption, and self-discovery. Set in the heart of Philly, this joint hooked me right in, showcasing why indie films are my jam. The lead actors? Straight-up chemistry. You can feel it, adding that realness to their characters. The director? A storytelling wizard, keeping the crowd locked in with a mix of humor and heartfelt moments, smooth like butter. This movie is a gem for those craving a deep, character-driven drama. See more Anne-Laure M 10/17/2023 Nice teenage movie with heavy themes covered. This "simple love story" turns out to be several stories crossing each other. Worth watching See more Rick I 02/01/2023 Now this is indie filmmaking. I can't say enough good things about this movie. It's inspiring, full of heart, full of ideas. It sort of meanders… in a good way for me. It's got a loose plot revolving around a group of students who are tasked with learning about each other for a school assignment. But that's really just a device, the film is way more interested in the types of people that the camera is pointed at, and where they came from, than anything else. I felt totally invested in the romance story as well as the friendship stories. Plus this is an indie movie that actually surprised me with some of the reveals that came later in the game. Love the wide range of music tracks selected. Love the multiracial cast. Love the messaging. The whole thing at times feels like a love letter to Philadelphia with tons of cool locations visited along with a description of what you're looking at. The cinematography feels like a doc at times, with a run and gun style that grounds the story and sets it firmly in modern day real life. Some of this feels so vulnerable. I love that the writer/director has things to say about the state of society and some very current events, but also isn't afraid to point the finger back at his own community and find places we can all improve. For some reason I just really connected with this story and I can't wait to see more from these filmmakers. See more Read all reviews
