It’s like a dimestore Braveheart: It might not have the sweep of those old-school period action films, but it’s still thrilling and passionate and filled with bloodcurdling, wall-to-wall violence. Go to Full Review

Kurylenko is about as gritty as a used sponge, and has a thin, feeble voice that’s especially unconvincing in scenes where she’s meant to rally troops with impassioned rhetoric. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, Boudica: Queen of War's gloomy tone and long, TV quality battles make it an underwhelming viewing experience. Go to Full Review

Even the theoretically revolutionary themes of women’s empowerment are carefully damped down Go to Full Review

The film is clearly made more for action fans than history buffs, but it works well this way. Go to Full Review

Olga Kurylenko unleashes beast mode as a British warrior seeking bloody vengeance against ruthless Roman oppressors. Boudica: Queen of War falls short on exposition and character development but delivers a quasi-historical actioner with gruesome glee. Go to Full Review

Par H @Parhwy Jun 29 Boudica: Queen of War (2025) is a 101-minute-long UK action film I saw on Prime in June 2026. Little is known of the historical Boudicca except her location, social position and battles. This film could have told the story of how a female in the early decades of the Common Era rose to power sufficient to unite a fighting force to severely test the mettle of Rome. Yet, perhaps because of a limited budget (the budget is unknown) or directorial limitations, the story told is a Lidl or Aldi Braveheart cheapened by two MacGuffins (magic sword, two soothsayers). Her ability to fight and her ability to unite literally come from those two MacGuffins - not by any believable human or societal means. Combined with the make-up and costumes, as well as casting, this film fails: sorry not sorry, Kurylenko was a bad choice, she never felt like a warrior queen at any point, disorienting in every scene. Rewatch? No. Recommend? No. 2/10. See more Sheree B @SBrea Jun 14 Who doesn't love a great revenge film starring a beautiful, leading lady!! Loved it. See more Giorgio G @GioBlob Feb 27 Besides a few fight scenes with Roman soldiers, the whole movie is mainly lame chit-chat, which even Olga can't rescue. 2/10 points. See more Sam A @Padlock Feb 8 A refreshing fantastic take on Boudica. Exceeded my expectations. The only cringey bit was the husband at the beginning with his smuttiness and arrogance. Then the wife changed into boudica and it became really interesting how she grew into her bold personality See more Michael T. @mgt46 Nov 25 close but no cigar, cheap knockoff See more Kaz T @RT80714990 09/22/2024 Absolute waste of time. I'd love to see Michael Hirst write a version of Boudica but whoever wrote this, nope. See more Read all reviews
