Audience Member Gory and gratuitous 80's homage. Quite good considering most of the successful attempts at this formula have had far higher budgets. However it's too drawn out and there is too much downtime between the fun bits. I mean it's hard to go wrong with brain-eating slugs and naked women, but Brain Dead tries by virtue of not having a clear idea of what it wants to be. The stereotypical characters grow tired quickly and hamstring the story from reaching its potential. The beginning and ending sequences really make it a better film overall than it deserves to be. COME ON, WHO ARE YOU FOOLING. I couldn't make it past the first nine minutes. If you're 15 or younger this movie will be for you...otherwise, watch any B- or even Z-movie from the 1990s and you'll be much better for the wear, trust me. I saw a lot of the 90s independent horror films and much of it was beyond shit....however, this is intolerable for a movie made in the new millennium.
