The characters, especially those of the two ten-year-old protagonists, ring true and when, just past the midway point, tragedy strikes it's quite devastating. Go to Full Review

Bridge to Terabithia is not only faithful to the novel but also stands to become a beloved family movie. Go to Full Review

This screen adaptation of Katherine Paterson's now-classic novel for young readers tells its story with agreeable simplicity in between computer-generated monsters. Go to Full Review

An enchanting, suspenseful, masterful work which digs far deeper than most films of this genre before or since. It took chances where none were needed and all of these gambles paid off in spades. Watching it will make you a better human being. Go to Full Review

It can be over-sentimental and saccharine in moments, but it's also a kids' film, so why shouldn't it be? Go to Full Review

Manages that rare feat of being both a faithful adaptation and appealing on an independent basis. Go to Full Review

Denver L. @DizzyDenver 1d Fantastic movie and a real tear jerker. Found myself bawling through the whole final act. See more Oliver D Nov 6 I thought it was going to be a fantasy movie but I didn't expect that turn. I couldn't hold back the tears. See more Blu B Sep 1 A Fantasy Drama Classic. It's a hybrid of a coming of age story with fantasy elements. Say like 80% drama and 20% fantasy. I was very much expecting this to be something along the lines of Narnia but far far from it. This entirely grounded in the real word most of the time and it's very clear the fantasy is pure imagination. It really isn't explored that much and is more a vechile for character growth and bonding. Teh CGI creature designs are really good though and there honestly isn't that much at all. This feels like a 90's family movie that came out in the late 00's. Sort of out of place. Really well done overall. The main issue here is it only loosely ties it scene to scene events together. Jess's relationship with his family, with Leslie, the teacher, Terebithia itself, the bullies, it isn't the tightest narrative in the world most of the time. But also it stays squarely focused on Jess the entire time so it never feels jumpy and flows well which was a great choice to do. It makes things feel focused even if there not. It's got a lot of heart to it, imagination, charm, and Leslie is amazing and the best thing. It explores a lot and Hutcherson is really good here. Same for Patrick also. Anyone who is a fan of the director, coming of age movies, family fantasy movies, any actors in this, or dramas should check this out. The story was amazing. Got me crying even harder when the movie ended. See more Jace E @thefilmguy May 21 Why did I do this to myself? I knew that I would bawl my eyes out, yet I watched it anyway. There is more than meets the eye with this movie and the exploration of imagination, grief and love are at the forefront. There are some slow parts in the 2nd act as they are building/exploring the world of Terabithia, but each of those moments are necessary for the story. The characters of Jess and Leslie are beautifully crafted and their need for each other builds throughout. This isn't a movie that you can just turn on and watch casually. It is there for when you need to feel something. You'll get to a certain point where you think you're done crying and then a scene will trigger the tears again and then again and again. Best Character: Leslie Best Quote: "She brought you something special when she came here, didn't she? That's what you hold onto. That's how you keep her alive." - Jack (I just got teary by writing that) Best Scene: Saying Goodbye in the Rain Best Piece of Score: "Seeing Terabithia" Note: The scene when they are singing "Someday" in class and Jess is balled up on his desk crying just takes me over the edge. Note 2: One of my most vivid theater memories is watching this movie when I was 13. I didn't have any tissues (because I had no idea what I was about to watch), just a stuffed duck that I won in a crane game machine before the movie started. That duck's behind was soaked in tears by the time the credits rolled. See more Read all reviews
