Audience Member Based on the legend of the drummer of El Bruc, Bruc is set in Cataluña at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. It tells the tale of a heroic peasant who, through chance and quick action, brings about the defeat of a group of invading French militia. Hailed as a hero by the local villagers, he is wanted by the French and a band of assassins is despatched to capture him. It is a competently directed movie and has a decent enough plot but does feel rather old hat. Where the film does stand out is in the stunning locations which are used to great effect as hapless the soldiers are gradually picked off by their quarry. With some genuinely exciting scenes but holding few surprises you are left having been entertained but wishing for a bit more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Good story line and some impressive, unique cinematography is used in this film. Overall, the story line was great, the action was real and the romantic side blends perfectly. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting hollywood style movie set in Spain during the Napoleón invasion. The cast is not bad, specially Juan José Ballesta and Astrid Bergés-Frisbey but some parts of the story, dialogues and, mainly, changes of stage and camera helicopter POV "a la" "Lord of the Rings" are not that well done and a little bit abused.
