Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Bulbbul is fashioned as a sharply relevant fable. It is a powerfully feminist, revisionist tale of a woman wronged, and it is told with economy, precision, style and feeling. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 30, 2020 Full Review Namrata Joshi The Hindu Dimri is a stunner who speaks volumes with her eyes. And the audience can do little but stay enraptured. Jun 30, 2020 Full Review Shikhar Verma High on Films An anti-fairytale at its very core, this feminist fable is arguably the most gorgeous looking thing to have come out of Hindi cinema all year. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 14, 2021 Full Review Scott Weinberg Thrillist This densely layered and visually stunning Bollywood import plays a little like the classic Japanese horror film Audition. Aug 16, 2020 Full Review Renuka Vyavahare The Times of India Bulbbul reflects upon this thought as it condemns the culture of silence that women are subjected to. It reminds you what you are truly capable of, once you decide to avenge injustice and seek redemption. Rated: 3/5 Jul 29, 2020 Full Review Stutee Ghosh The Quint 1 of the questions the film throws up&doesn't answer is if the binary between being a devi or chudail is the only recourse feminine power has to navigate in this patriarchal set up. No easy answers in sight but nevertheless a visually appealing film. Rated: 3/5 Jul 10, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Christian K Visually strong with a really good central performance. There is a ton of effort and screen time put into the central mystery of who is the 'demon-woman' that is killing everybody? Unfortunately, its the most obvious and in your face answer that's that is so overtly hinted at I almost expected it to be a fakeout, but no, it's Bulbbul. Could of used more from the killing and scary scenes, but I think they went conservative on those cause their is a very rough extended sexual assault scene to get through in this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Leena S Exceptional performances by all. What a story like.. Haunting, mesmerizing. Completely blew my mind Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/30/24 Full Review Pavit M Predictable. Tries to sensationalise trauma and oppression. The dialogue is terrible. Unnecessarily drawn out. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/30/23 Full Review Rhythm S Beautifully directed, poetic plot, lot of easter eggs from Bengali culture. I am addicted and need more movies like this one! A must watch :) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent watch, the story is a little predictable, but the acting is really good, especially by the female lead (overall lead). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Phenomenal cinematography, set design and the story unfolds so beautifully. Based on the fable of she-demons in many south Asian cultures, this story lets you know that the real horror is not some ghost hiding in the woods, but the brutality that women suffer as the second sex. Highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Read all reviews
