Audience Member The first of Lloyd's double reels. Classic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I really liked the story and it was funny enough, but the ending was horrible. Overall it's just okay. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Harold Lloyd was such an amazing athlete. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm still working my way through HL's films. Each one I watch makes me appreciate his comedic genius even more. HL's frustration with the typewriter is a hoot; running from the landlady ($3.75 for overdue rent) is a scream; and the police raid on the speakeasy is just hilarious. Watch for the great backflip on the staircase. His hiding-in-the-coat gag never gets old. The cops do a Rodney King on one of their own, which is funny in this context. And, of course, Harold gets the girl (Bebe Daniels) in the end (literally next to the boozing cops - it was Prohibition after all!). The more I watch films like this, the more I realize just what junk is in theaters today. Now, onto "The Kid Brother." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Harold Lloyd is a star of the silver screen, back when comedy wasen't the rauchy thing that it is today. Though if your a fan of today's comedy then you probably won't like much here. The inbetween jokes aren't that great here, but the funny stuff his what happens on the screen. He has great timing, physically and is able to tell so much of the story even without words. Still this uis the first of his films so I can't really call it his best or worst. The next one I watched that night I enjoyed more then this one. Another thing to note is the music score. It works well with what happens on the screen and helps tell the story. So if your an old comedy buff then you'll want to watch this one, because it's good at least. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
