Without clichés, the movie is a coming of age that feels fresh to the Mexican film scene. No one is stabbed, no one lives in extreme poverty, no one beats the gay guy. Thank you Francisco and María René Prudencio (they wrote the screenplay together) for not falling into the Ripstein trap. A good vehicle for Irene Azuela's talent. Diana Bracho, who played Maria Callas under Franco's helm in Master Class, has a cameo appearance. Eugenia León and Julieta Vengas sing the same song. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Although it clearly appears as an indie film, the movie is gigantic in many aspects: flawleslly performed, with a measured and precise direction and with perfectly balanced scenes shot in Zacatecas, one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico. The movie contains all of the elements needed to create a fair portrait of disfunctional families in Mexico, with the added spice of a mother near to her death and the strong links about to break bewteen her and her two children, plus a sort of nanny-maid who works in the almost wrecked house. It laso talks abou the lonely youngesters whose search for love tends to be not so accurate and the stumbling on the road (life) needed to grow up. All actor and actresses have a quite polished performance who takes you in a not-noisy roller coeaster trip. The heartbreaking story begins just like Ravel's Bolero: almost quiet, to continue being an uncontrolled riot and end up as a sad Pachelbel's canon 6. Highly recommended and enoybale.
