Caroline Madden Video Librarian Magazine Camp Wedding is a splashy throwback to 1980s slashers with a contemporary twist that features an inclusive cast. It has a frothy spirit and theatrical aesthetic that makes it a truly enjoyable watch. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 5, 2021 Full Review Tony Asankomah GhMovieFreak As a horror flick, it serves the least amount of fright even for the very faint-hearted and tries to be funny more than it really is. Rated: 4.5/10 Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Alejandro Turdó Hoy Sale Cine The key here is not to think about Camp Wedding as a Horror movie per se, but as a Horror Comedy instead. A social commentary about honesty and communication in the Social Media era, and a pretty smart one. Rated: 7/10 Aug 19, 2021 Full Review Evan Dossey Midwest Film Journal A clever twist on the camp slasher genre with a good cast, strong spooks, and sharp social commentary. Aug 6, 2021 Full Review Danielle Solzman Solzy at the Movies Camp Wedding infuses our society's obsession with social media and smartphone technology by placing it within a horror movie. Rated: 3/5 Aug 20, 2019 Full Review Zoe Crombie Film Inquiry By presenting a comedy with the formal elements of a slasher, Camp Wedding fails to be interesting or entertaining within either genre. robb w Bad writing, bad acting, not a chuckle in the the 90 minute waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member meeeh.. boring.waste of time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I went in expecting a cheap slasher flick but ended up with a dry horror parody. The dryness of the humor worked for me though. It's less bombastic and gory than say a Tucker & Dale slasher parody, however, despite usually disliking the 'this isn't what it looks like' trope in general the sheer amount and direction of the misunderstandings was paced well enough to meet the truly enjoyable climax of the film. New characters or plot devices introduced themselves just often enough to keep the plot from getting stale or repeating past jokes. From the dry humor to the sarcastic ghost even the slower or more predictable parts of the film were just a lull rather than a struggle. I didn't notice it wasn't a horror movie until it wasn't; And that's a good thing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
