He fails in his quest and his family pressurizes him to join the family business and get settled. Maanvi, a lissome, charming girl, and Zumba Trainer walk into his life. Manu feels an instant attraction, sparks fly, chemistry blossoms and soon, they find themselves in the middle of a torrid romantic affair, painting the town red with their newfound, raw, irresistibly intense cascading love for each other. A startling revelation brings his life to a grinding halt and an enormous confession throws off their relationship to hit rock-bottom. This propels Manu into a journey of self-discovery and surpass barriers to embrace the love of his life and in the process accomplish his long-lasting dream. The film attempts to present a never-before-seen love story that also raises unsettling questions about society's tainted notions of love and the prevalent toxic masculinity. Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Ayushmann Khurrana, Chandigarh boy for real, is right at home in his bristly-brawny-softie Manu. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 1, 2022 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV [It] embraces the right line of thinking - full marks to the writers and the director on that score - and runs with it for a while and then lets it slip out of its grasp. By the time it gets to the finishing line, it is back to square one. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 1, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Manish S Great soundtrack, great acting, good message Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/21 Full Review Ash DDN Good topic but the movie dragged at times. Could easily take away 30-45 minutes without losing any substantive part. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/21 Full Review Alif Resat Ayushmann & Vaani just rocked it.great movie with good message 😍😍😍😍 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/11/21 Full Review Audience Member Watch this for it's uniqueness and decent writing. Concept relatively untouched in Indian films, so nice to see something fresh. Of course a lot of stereotypes in this one, and runtime could've been lesser, but it's an Indian film, so songs have to be there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Fresh topic, awesome acting, Bollywood masala Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I was honestly a little worried going in even though I've enjoyed most of Ayushmann Khurrana's films. Shubh Manual Saavdhan was pretty terrible and I didn't want to sit through another butchered take on gender/sexuality. Thankfully, this movie is wonderful. It handles sensitive moments with great care and the performances are lovely. And it was a lot of fun along the way. I know there's a much deeper discussion needed on trans issues, but this film feels like a good way to open the door to something more meaningful. If it inspires just a little more kindness and makes a few people a little safer in the world, it will have done it's job. I know loud Punjabi families are overdone in Bollywood, but this one felt more authentic given the many Punjabi film industry actors involved. Manu's journey to acceptance was refreshing to see. It brought him to the right places, from educating himself to visiting a mental health professional. Vaani's vulnerability felt spot on. I love that the film even put in a nod to Maanvi's privilege in having at least one supportive parent and therefore the resources to afford surgeries and safety. Watch it to learn a few things and experience some much-needed joy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
