Unpopular nerd Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) buys a 1958 Plymouth Fury, which he names Christine. Arnie develops an unhealthy obsession with the car, to the alarm of his jock friend, Dennis Guilder (John Stockwell). After bully Buddy Repperton (William Ostrander) defaces Christine, the auto restores itself to perfect condition and begins killing off Buddy and his friends. Determined to stop the deaths, Dennis and Arnie's girlfriend, Leigh Cabot (Alexandra Paul), decide to destroy Christine.

Carpenter's irresistible Slasher obsession changes shape; sharp instrumentation is not lacking. Silent, lethal, Plymouth Fury '58, has the advantage of irony. A charming, irritated mechanical grif, persuasive murderous ambition, she has a bit of a grudge with everyone apart from her beloved rediscoverer. The verdict of the workshop past. The features of a rather nice Levi's commercial, the action of Hazzard County (TV series The Dukes of Hazzard), and the hypnotic soft Horror. The regenerative effects of the car, junkyard noises and egocentric symptoms of beauty.
