Bristling with energy and ambition, [Sydney Sweeney's] Christy is an appealingly indomitable figure with a sharp sense of humour. You’re with her all the way as she finally gets back in touch with her urge to survive. Go to Full Review

Christy has the feel of a B-grade movie, a regular sports biopic, but a good one. It lacks the power of complex, surprising emotional storytelling because the filmmakers have to span decades, cramming in episodes from a busy life. Go to Full Review

A successful showcase for Sweeney’s dramatic talents ... Christy knows how to sting, and also how to float. Go to Full Review

What 'Christy' offers audiences is a traditional biopic about an inspiring woman who defied the odds, yet unfortunately, it doesn't come close to matching the real-life Christy’s fiery persona. Go to Full Review

Michod and his production team do solid work, but all of the attention is deservedly focused on these two performances, with few distractions. Go to Full Review

4d Different. Very Good movie. underrated See more Dec 1 Sydney Sweeney is exceptional in portraying Christy. See more Nov 30 This is similar to THE SMASHING MACHINE in the sense that the movie revolves around boxing, but the behind-the-scenes drama ultimately proves to be the more interesting aspect. Sydney Sweeney delivers one of the better performances, and she effectively navigates the dramatic and action scenes. The supporting cast also shines, and overall, the movie is engaging and emotionally moving, especially towards the second half. This depiction of Christy Martin felt solid enough by depicting her personal struggles with her manager, family, and lover, while at the same time being consumed by boxing success, domestic violence, and discrimination. It was better than I expected, and yes, we've been getting a lot of boxing movies lately, but this is one of the better ones. See more Nov 19 Solid film. Emotional, well paced and acted. See more Nov 19 Loved it! Felt very raw and you forget who is playing the character. Some exposition could’ve been better but overall loved See more Nov 18 Oscar worthy performances from Sydney Sweeney and Ben Foster See more Read all reviews
