Leslie Katz culturevulture.net The film's lackluster story and older than dirt gags -- it makes The Flintstones look like Shakespeare! -- keep it from reaching the outer limits of enjoyment. Jun 9, 2003 Full Review Read all reviews

Marco A Hilarious short film. 7/10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/15/24 Full Review Adrian E My Rating: 7/10 (Good) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The slightly lacking story and protagonist I thought was a bit annoying aside, The ChubbChubbs is one funny Oscar-winning short film with animation that's aged alright (then again, the only real competition it had at the time was Ice Age) and pop culture references that don't seem unnecessarily shoehorned in. At least this short is more memorable than its Christmas sequel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Simply, short film genius! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a great and very entertaining animated short. It had very impressive animation, really great music, great characters, very great visuals and a very fun story. It's one of the best animated shorts of 2002. I've seen this short movie before "Stuart Little 2." I would recommend this short movie to both kids and adults. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A fun 5-minute short by Sony Animation made in 2002. It follows Meeper, a janitor at the Ale-E-Inn in a distant alien planet. He dreams of being a singer and often imagines himself performing karaoke. After he is thrown outside by guards of the bar, Jar Jar Binks tells him (yes, THE Jar Jar Binks who is surprisingly not annoying in this) that the ChubbChubbs are coming. The ChubbChubbs are big monster gladiators who plan on destroying aliens. The main point of the film is Meeper trying to warn the aliens inside the bar that the ChubbChubbs are coming, although they ignore him over and over. In the end, ChubbChubbs are revealed to actually be baby chicks. The ChubbChubbs is a fun movie that has plenty of sci fi references, such as Darth Vader and Yoda arm wrestling inside the bar, E.T. sitting at a table, and Alien sucking on a drink. It's a great film for kids and definitely adults, who will get more of the inside references than kids. A great short that even can be compared to Pixar.
