Critics Consensus

As idiosyncratic as it is ambitious, Clara's Ghost can be as difficult to pin down as a spectral presence -- yet it also has a way of working itself under the skin.

Over time... visual slackness proves to be a sinuous strength. It prevents the film from indicating its intentions, which would remove the mystery from the tense relationships it depicts. Go to Full Review

Bridey Elliott has made a slippery psychological horror-comedy that begins with family and showbiz, then slides into an empathetic journey into female hysteria. Go to Full Review

Mark T Oct 6 Very funny look into a dysfunctional showbiz family. See more 04/19/2020 Paula Niedert Elliott is fascinating in this. She comes across as un-actorly at the same time she is totally immersed in the character. I couldn't take my eyes off her, even though the other characters were so overbearing. Some critics wrote that this was like a family movie that no one else would be interested in. I couldn't disagree more. Bridey Elliott did a wonderful job of creating a unique family vignette that makes you feel a little guilty for watching as though you're a peeping Tom who came across the scene accidentally, but you can't look away. I think it is fresh and evocative and well-done. I think everyone involved in the project accomplished what they attempted to do. I look forward to seeing more from these artists.
