No era una película de Star Wars al uso, ni lo pretendía. Pero lo que parecía una simple peli para introducir la serie animada, terminó siendo el inicio de algo enorme y súper importante para el universo de Star Wars. No era una continuación directa, sino un punto de partida distinto, con ideas frescas y mucho espacio para crecer. Desde el principio, se nota que The Clone Wars no busca parecerse a las películas. La animación, con ese estilo tan marcado y casi geométrico, rompía con todo lo que habíamos visto antes. Puede que al principio cueste un poco acostumbrarse, pero enseguida le pillas el ritmo y empiezas a disfrutar de lo que ofrece: batallas muy curradas, una expansión brutal del conflicto de las Guerras Clon y, sobre todo, la presentación de Ahsoka Tano, un personaje que, sin saberlo entonces, acabaría siendo fundamental para toda la franquicia. Es cierto que algunos momentos son más ligeros o incluso algo infantiles, sobre todo por el humor de ciertos droides, pero eso no le quita mérito al conjunto. La película consigue aportar nuevas capas a un conflicto que hasta entonces se sentía algo plano. Aquí vemos a los soldados clon con más humanidad, a los Jedi enfrentando decisiones difíciles y a personajes como Anakin o Obi-Wan en registros diferentes. Esta cinta no intenta convencer a los que nunca han conectado con Star Wars, ni quiere colocarse como una nueva película “grande” de la saga. Su intención es otra: servir de puente hacia algo más ambicioso. Como prólogo de la serie, cumple bien su función y, con el paso del tiempo, ha ganado valor por lo que representa dentro del canon. Si alguien la juzga solo por ser animación o porque “parece para niños”, se está perdiendo parte de lo que The Clone Wars aportó a esta galaxia. Puede que no sea perfecta, pero tiene corazón, intención y un punto de partida que se fue consolidando con los años. (ENGLISH) When The Clone Wars premiered in 2008, the truth is that most people didn’t really know what to expect. It wasn’t a typical Star Wars movie, nor did it try to be. What looked like just a small film to introduce the animated series ended up being the beginning of something huge and incredibly important for the Star Wars universe. It wasn’t a direct continuation, but a different starting point, with fresh ideas and a lot of room to grow. From the very beginning, you can tell The Clone Wars doesn’t aim to imitate the films. The animation, with its bold and almost geometric style, broke away from everything we had seen before. It might take a few minutes to get used to, but soon you’re into the rhythm and enjoying what it brings: well-crafted battles, an expansive take on the Clone Wars conflict, and most importantly, the introduction of Ahsoka Tano — a character who, unbeknownst to us at the time, would become essential to the entire franchise. Sure, there are some lighter or even slightly childish moments, especially with the humor of certain droids, but that doesn’t take away from the film’s value. It adds new layers to a conflict that previously felt a bit one-note. Here, we see clone troopers as individuals, Jedi dealing with tough decisions, and characters like Anakin and Obi-Wan from a different perspective. This movie isn’t trying to win over people who’ve never connected with Star Wars, nor is it trying to position itself as the next “big” film in the saga. Its goal is different: to act as a bridge toward something more ambitious. As a prologue to the series, it does the job well, and over time, it’s gained significance for what it represents within canon. If someone dismisses it just because it’s animated or “looks like it’s for kids,” they’re missing part of what The Clone Wars brought to the galaxy. It may not be perfect, but it has heart, purpose, and a starting point that grew into something much bigger. Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/23/25 Full Review Matt O A Mixed Bag – 2.5/5 The Clone Wars movie feels like an extended pilot for the animated series, which makes it a bit uneven as a standalone film. The animation style takes some getting used to, and the story doesn’t pack the punch you’d expect from a Star Wars movie. There are some cool action scenes, but overall, it felt like it was just setting up stuff for the TV show rather than standing strong on its own. Definitely better as part of the whole Clone Wars experience, but not very entertaining by itself.
