THE NASHVILLE I The romance with terminal illness is unhealthy, and uninspiring. Baldoni's suspiciously done this same routine with 5 Feet Apart and his documentary. The script's a bit cheesy, to be honest, and desperate to reap this uplifting inspiration from ongoing death...but it doesn't hit, and the directing at the same time feels pretentious. Moreover the handling of the 2 girlfriend's is agonizingly ambiguous, but it's honestly more carelessness in the writing more than any intended cleverness. We often live as if we’re invincible, assuming we have all the time in the world, but the reality is different. We shouldn’t wait for the threat of death to start truly living. This film made me realize that. The story itself is bittersweet. While we see the protagonist achieve his dreams in the little time he has left, he doesn’t get to enjoy them for long. The cinematography was solid, with some impressive transitions, and the performances by the cast were captivating, showcasing a range of deep emotions. The music, which is central to the movie, was well-chosen and executed. The catchy tunes will make you want to explore the album and songs that inspired the film. Overall, it’s a fantastic movie.
