It involves a shock jock (Ron Perlman, slumming in a small part) and a grunt working in a machine shop in the midwest. A general air of despair permeates everything, with guns, social unrest, distrust of the government - all presented without any in-depth point of view. The labored storytelling is propelled by the main guy's disillusionment with everything. And then, of course, the finale brings out the guns. Don't bother. It's slow as molasses in January. Watching it feels exactly like what it portrays: a quiet descent into loneliness, rage, and alienation. Theo Rossi and Ronnie Blevins give gripping and heartbreaking performances that are uncomfortable, visceral, and absolutely devestating. The film is a difficult watch but an incredibly important one. Are the "Truth Tellers" really telling the truth or are they following their own agenda, as so many others are? Who are the real bad guys... are they wolves in sheep's clothing? Theo Rossi is nothing short of brilliant in this extremely relevant film that we all need to see and continue the conversation. These performances show how actors aren't just saying words, but reaching the audience through their expressions and hearts. Shocking and surprise ending I never saw coming!!! Ron Perlman is equally effective, using his commanding voice to turn Dalton Kirby into an unsettling influence lurking in the background. The film’s greatest strength is showing radicalization as a gradual process rather than a sudden transformation, without excusing Simon’s violent choices. However, the nearly two-hour runtime can feel overly slow, with some scenes repeating ideas the film has already established.
