"Companion" is a series of slow-burn mini-chapters which peak and recede like ocean waves, each one revealing the mysteries of the plot one by one, until a final apocalyptic denouement of cosmic revelation and existential crisis. However it has the worst acting I've seen in a long time and the writing is even worse. It's a post apocalyptic supernatural film and the part I had the most trouble believing was the dialogue. The characters were expressing emotions you'd expect but it all felt forced and un organic. Full disclosure: I stopped watching halfway through......maybe it got better.
