Audience Member Just seen the movie. Really unflattering, dull and non-humoristic movie about a weird guy. It's a complete waste of time and I actually pity the film material for being used on such a dull project. Safe the energy and watch a brick for 2 hours would be more giving outcome Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was just on TV which reminded me I had seen it (and not reviewed it). I saw this film originally at the the International Film Festival in my city in either 2008 or 2009. I think seeing it initially and getting the "audience soundtrack" I think made this film. Chris Waitt decided to make this film about himself and his horrendously bad relationship track record which he sets off to investigate. Chris presents much like Spike, Hugh Grant's room mate in Notting Hill, poor social skills, poor presentation and an almost complete lack of forsight into himself. I believe having an audience "made" this film for me. There is a particular scene for example, where Chris takes certain drugs that affect the male member. With alcohol. Without the foresight to have a partner or sex toys or other methods of relief. I won't destroy the scene but as it progresses the entire audence groans, shudders and made noises like "Oh no, he's not going to is he; oh gawd he is..." kind of thing. This made it. This movie has funny parts but it is also rather sad and pathetic... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Large portions are obviously staged, leading one to question whether this was ever intended to be a documentary, or a gross-out romantic comedy masquerading documentary all along. Unfortunately, it fails horribly at being either. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Poor guy. Just wanna scrub him clean. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Horribly depressing, yet intriguing to laugh at. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This seemed like a interesting idea for a documentary but the why this guy did it just wasn't fun to watch. Most of the girls never talked to him and most of the time he never really found out what was wrong with him. He was a very dull person and you kinda knew right away why people dumped him. The whole movie you're hoping to find out the big question but no one really gave bug examples and it didn't seem to help him. I felt like this guys whole project was a waste of time. It was interesting early one but after awhile you just don't care anymore after you see what kind of person he is. Not the best documentary to watch about relationships but if you're lazy like him, you'll find women get tired of your shit pretty fast. Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) A sporadically entertaining portrayal of male humiliation and self-abnegation. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Mike McCahill Daily Telegraph (UK) It's a display of gross bad faith both as documentarist and lover, and its subject probably deserves never to get laid again. Jul 1, 2008 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Pace is snappy, soundtrack full of good alt-rock cuts. Feb 1, 2008 Full Review Margaret Pomeranz At the Movies (Australia) It's to Waitt's credit that there are genuine moments of poignancy in the film as well as laughs and sheer astonishment. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Julian Wood FILMINK (Australia) There's an occasional brief, fierce laugh born out of the absurdity of the situations. At other points, the women provide genuine insight into relationships. Thank god for their realism and sanity. Still, this feels like a short bloated into a feature. Mar 20, 2009 Full Review Louise Keller Urban Cinefile It's not as funny as the title suggests, but there's something endearing about this rough video diary in which filmmaker Chris Waitt takes a fly-on-the-wall approach to his past failures as a boyfriend.
