Richard Porton Chicago Reader Unfortunately Sorrentino's often playful assault on genre conventions is sabotaged by an ostentatious visual style that alludes to the work of such disparate directors as Antonioni and Scorsese but is little more than a bag of empty tricks. Sep 29, 2017 Full Review Empire Magazine Rated: 4/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review PJ Nabarro Patrick Nabarro A story told as much through mood, sentiment and image than through a writer's more conventional tool of dramaturgy. Rated: 3/5 Dec 8, 2018 Full Review Brian Gibson Vue Weekly (Edmonton, Alberta) Sorrentino wins all bets we'll buy his film's more existential, literary, romantic ambitions because of the sheer ecstasy--the great beauty--of his style. Style becomes substance--the cuts and angles create narrative, the screen's surface opens up depths. Nov 17, 2014 Full Review Boyd van Hoeij european-films.net Two superfluous sub-plots notwithstanding, this atmospheric character study is clearly the work of a very talented filmmaker. Aaron C Great film, would recommend. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Carla S Good enough. The irresistible temptation of self annihilation through romantic love and desire. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Liam D Paolo Sorrentino (Youth, Homemade) Psychological Thriller is an engaging and uniquely edited examination of an man's obsession, loneliness and the troubles he had Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/22 Full Review luca b Purtroppo la sceneggiatura ha un paio di svolte poco credibili, dal regalo in poi. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
