Jesse Cataldo Slant Magazine It's always refreshing to see a newcomer with so much energy, but the chaos that takes over Cost of a Soul ultimately feels wasteful. Rated: 2/4 Jun 3, 2011 Full Review John Anderson Variety Technically accomplished but dramatically unconvincing. May 24, 2011 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post Kirkpatrick keeps stomping on the drama pedal while blowing the clich horn, yielding scene after tired scene of predictable developments as the principals keep shoving guns into mouths and screaming obscenities. Rated: 0.5/4 May 20, 2011 Full Review Edward Douglas ComingSoon.net A valiant enough first effort, but {Sean} Kirkpatrick has a long way to go before he achieves even Mean Streets-level Scorsese. Audience Member Pretty good for an independent movie. The acting was good from most part of the cast. The ending was brilliant. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Movie. Judy Jerome is a Best Actress Nominee. Go out and see this movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This low budget movie follows the lives of two United States Marines who complete their service contracts to return "home" where they can't find jobs. One Marine was a "bad-ass" bad-guy before he joined the Marines, and the other a person of good character. Neither, can find jobs. They return to the same neighborhood that is riddled in crime and drugs. Out manned and out gunned by drug-lords, bad guys, street punks, and desperate for work...... these Marines battle themselves as they try to make the best of the situation in a jobless society. It's LOW LOW LOW budget. Some good acting, some, not so good. It was worth a look if you enjoy low budget movies (like me). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrific debut film.
