Kristin C @Kristinmovielover Dec 8 I recently watched Covenant on Tubi and was pleasantly surprised by how well it was shot. The acting was solid, the direction was strong, and the story kept my attention from start to finish. One thing I really liked was the lead character — he’s intentionally unlikeable, which is a bold choice, and I actually appreciated that. It made the ending feel earned, and it was refreshing to see a film take that kind of risk with its protagonist. The special effects were hit-and-miss: some looked great, others clearly showed the limits of indie filmmaking. Totally understandable, but it did pull me out at moments. Still, I couldn’t stop watching. Near the end, the movie loses some of its momentum, and I really wish we saw more of the creature that appears — it was genuinely cool and underused. Overall, Covenant is a fun, creepy popcorn flick with memorable moments. I’m giving it 2½ stars. It would’ve been 3 stars if the VFX were more consistent. See more Read all reviews
