Alejandro Turdó Hoy Sale Cine Craving saves the best for last: blood, guts and B Monster Movie madness. But the film’s true achievement relies on its craftsmanship to maintain tension on a high level up until its gory resolution. Rated: 7/10 Oct 12, 2023 Full Review Vicky Lawrence Starburst This film’s not to be missed, it’s cheesy at times and can be confusing, but it has a great story that doesn’t play on the same sort of monster/drug tropes that some other films do while also having a different take on the final girl trope. Rated: 3/5 Apr 25, 2023 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Craving has a large cast, which is good and bad. But what it lacks in character specificity, it more than makes up for in sheer thrills and chills. Rated: 8/10 Mar 8, 2023 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Drug addiction as a metaphor for demonic possession is a strong hook for a horror movie, but director and co-writer J. Horton never finds a coherent way of expressing it. Rated: D+ Mar 8, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Craving is a bad-ass genre mashup of a film. Trerell C Name: Trerell C. Date: 09/06/2024 Other Platforms I voted- IMDb: 10/10 Prime Video: Thumbs Up I guess that makes it 20/20! I already knew a movie featuring one of my favorite actors, young adult Sage Mayer, would be a hit and not a miss. If it had been a miss, I might have to call 1-999-Are-You-Insane! (Just kidding.) But back to being professional—well, with one more pun: I watched this movie because I have a craving for horror films. I’m so proud of the entire cast, especially Sage. I’m not sure how old he was when he filmed this, but it doesn’t matter—his performance rocked. The movie had me on the edge of my seat, especially with my red light background adding to the scare factor. This is a must-rewatch, over and over again! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Audience Member A junkie has an insatiable desire to feed or hunger and it's not just applies to drug users In this case it can be a bloodthirsty monster This one actually reminds me of 'Feast' with almost the same premise It focuses on a bunch of patrons in a bar in the middle of the desert Some outsiders with guns storm the place claiming one of them in the bar is a supernatural creature and they want them to give up whoever it is This movie is rather slow relying more on flashbacks setting up the current chain of events A large cast of unknowns save for Felissa Rose of 'Sleepaway Camp' fame Director Jason Horton has an exciting idea for a good time and some metaphors for addiction and withdrawal but everything feels squandered on a script that feels restrained and by characters you barely get to know or care about It's not until the last 20 minutes it starts to get bloody Even the creature looks a bit lame compared to how impressive other monsters appear The ending even has a grim feel 'Feast' was definitely better in many regards because you got to laugh and poke fun at the insane schlocky ness of it all and spend time with people despite their cartoonish ness Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Andy B Whilst it almost verges into so bad it's good territory at times, this film is pure nonsense. The icing on the cake is a man in a rubber suit monster waddling around at the end. I only stuck it out because I thought they might be saving their money for a cool monster finale! By almost every standard,- the acting (hilariously bad across the board), plot (confused and incomprehensible- can't decide whether to be a considered metaphor for drug addiction or a piece of 80's trash cinema), dialogue (hamfisted, senseless) and creature design (no design- it's just a bunch of teeth stuck to some guy with a wet bag on his head) it fails utterly. The only bizarre exception being the de-aging effects, which are honestly better than many mainstream movies. That aside though, it's a dismally amateurish mess, even given the clearly low budget. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Doggie Dream Productions Craving is flat out fun! A dark, well-crafted horror film that gets a ton out of its premise. I love the concept. The way addiction and withdrawal are used as horror devices. A touch of Hitchcock, with the characters contained in one space... but more modern and yeah, bloodier than Hitch! It's an exciting movie that grabs you, holds you tight, and doesn't let go until the very end. I'm not always a horror fan. But when a movie is this smart and darkly entertaining, it's very hard to resist. I can't tell you more without ruining the plot. But I can confidently say, this is a really great movie that should quench your horror craving. (Sorry! Couldn't resist the bad pun.) Enjoy! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/23 Full Review g j Absolutely rocking special effects in the last 25 minutes are unfortunately saddled with a really amateurish lacklustre script, bad acting and unlikeable characters. This would have been much better as a short film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/23 Full Review Scott W Craving is a really fun movie. The special effects are crazy awesome. The story is great and has multiple layers to it. To me it is a story about family and what we will do for them as well as a take on addiction and the awful toll it can take on the person addicted and those who love them.
