Stanley Kauffmann The New Republic Crazy Horse could be condensed to its advantage. Jun 19, 2013 Full Review Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer The idea is to be erotic, seductive, but often, through Wiseman's unforgiving lens, the effect is more anatomical, aloof, amusing. Mar 30, 2012 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News If there's one thing that's both surprising and predictable about "Crazy Horse" it's how thoroughly unsexy the film is. Rated: B- Mar 23, 2012 Full Review Felicia Feaster Burnaway.org As with nearly all of Wiseman's films, Crazy Horse is a narcotic, fly-on-the-wall immersion in the rhythms and predilections of a peculiar industry. Jan 16, 2020 Full Review Steve Erickson Nashville Scene Crazy Horse shows how much work goes into winning the battles of the erotic army, even if the real warfare is going on behind the curtains. Nov 6, 2018 Full Review Geoffrey O'Brien The New York Review of Books Crazy Horse manages to achieve a kind of constant double image. When we watch the numbers we see both the fantasy and the labor that goes into simulating it. Nov 6, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This was a jumbled mess of a documentary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Frederick Wiseman points his cinema verite camera at the CRAZY HORSE in Paris completing his French trilogy that includes films on La Comedie Francaise and the Paris Opera Ballet. As always, Wiseman does not interject himself into the proceedings but unlike his best works, CRAZY HORSE does not always have much of a point to make. Watching the film, you will question "is this art" or "pure exploitation" regarding the CRAZY HORSE. And that clearly is one of Wiseman's points--can there both? or works that straddle the line? Yes! But the film just never delves deep enough to see or understand the world underneath the beautiful naked bodies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member "the best nude dancing show in the world" I like the different approach of this director to make a documentary without voice overs or unnecessary titles. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Crazy Horse is a nude show , but this film is artistic than sexual. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member pretty bad movie, as a documentary it feels light and incomplete. most of the dancers are techically not at all talented (suppose thats why they have to be nude) steven soderberghs 'magic mike' is a far more entertaining look at erotic dancing. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member What so engaging here is this documentary's ability to titillate as well as educate. By observing the events of an infamous Parisian cabaret, the film successfully captures the creating, performing, and selling of simulated sexual pleasure.
