Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews The American version of Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novel. Rated: B Apr 2, 2021 Full Review Graham Greene The Spectator M. Chenal's camera takes its stand on the outside, the world's side. It would have been far better to have dropped the realistic approach altogether, to have battered the real theme into us with soliloquies, with aerial voices, with dream imagery. William D Other than the general plot outline the movie doesn't follow Dostoevsky's novel very much, I still enjoyed it a great deal. Von Sternberg's direction is excellent, and Edward Arnold is a terrific actor. It's a shame he didn't get more leading roles. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/21 Full Review Fritz C based on Fyodor Dostoevskyâ(TM)s book starring Peter Lorre, Marian Marsh, and Edward Arnold⦠Lorre had some monotonous acts, but that would be one of the best monotonous performances he had. The character required that kind of acting. You would be satisfied with all he has to offer. Edward Arnold, as always, great. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/15/11 Full Review Read all reviews
