What to Know

Critics Consensus

Despite the beautiful visuals, Crime and Punishment is too somber and pretentious. Also, the acting is of mixed quality.

The best thing that can be said about Rob Schmidt's Crime and Punishment in Suburbia -- aside from the fact that it's over in less than two hours -- is that it doesn't glorify violence committed by sexy teens. Go to Full Review

This self-satisfied waste of space, care of flashy new filmmaker Rob Schmidt, manages to be even more insipid than the overrated American Beauty, if that were possible. Go to Full Review

08/17/2013 This is a movie that pulls no punches. See more Frances H 07/19/2013 Interesting film that I found to very profoundly sad, because the teens involved seemed to have absolutely no support from any of the adults who should have been helping them. Instead, they floundered about in their own world try so hard to cope, because the adults selfishly were too concerned with their own problems. Thus, the movie has a lot to say about the state of youth in society today. At least it ends on an up note with the boy everybody called a freak coming to the girl's aid and giving her some hope. See more 11/15/2012 Keena's intense performance is the fuel that makes "Crime+punishment in suburbia" more than a self-indulgent teen drama. See more 10/18/2012 A strange and uneven film about a messed up family whose problems end in murder. Needless characters and subplots mar an overall good production. See more 07/16/2012 Actually pretty good. See more 02/05/2012 Whiule having its share of flaws, I enjoyed its energy. See more Read all reviews
