Critics Consensus

With its serious-minded story, Crisis aims higher than many crime thrillers -- but uneven acting and a spotty script mean the end result falls short of its goals.

Stephen Romei The Australian I enjoyed Crisis. The performances are first rate and the tension builds throughout to a climax and then an aftermath. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 26, 2021 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's a union of crime and politics of the kind that you might expect to find on one of the streaming services, but it's given extra heft by its broad canvas and ambitious segues. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Wenlei Ma News.com.au For all of its good intentions, the generic Crisis isn't showing us anything new. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 19, 2021 Full Review Nadine Whitney Mr. Movie's Film Blog A relatively second-rate script and lackluster direction on Jarecki’s part leaves the film a sadly less than riveting experience. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India While Crisis falls short of its potential, it's not a complete failure - it simply needed more attention to the story development. Rated: 3/5 Mar 27, 2023 Full Review Alex Behan Stuff.co.nz Ultimately, it's hard to get emotionally invested with these thinly written characters. Dec 17, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Tammie I thought the acting was great and I enjoyed the two overlapping stories of the mom and the DEA agent and the related story of the professor's challenges with pharma and university funding. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/17/21 Full Review Rosana B Um adorável filme de suspense policial, com as maravilhosas Evangeline Lilly e Michelle Rodriguez, amo... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review J L Lily and Oldman carry this flick with their seasoned talent and depth of characters portrayed. However, this script begun to languish and drag mid length and never quite recovers. Great topic to explore and the exposure of corporate greed at any cost, and yet, the writer fails to keep the audience captivated or interested. Perhaps more time for the characters to unfold would have cured this defect, as well as tightening 3 stories interwoven into one to be more prevalent to the viewer in it's execution. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Toni A “Crisis” emerges as a compelling cinematic piece, distinguished by its exemplary acting and narrative depth. The film artfully navigates the complexities of its somber theme, delivering a poignant reflection on the stark realities we face. Its ability to intertwine sorrow with the faintest glimmers of hope lends it a bittersweet resonance that lingers with the audience. A commendable work that adeptly captures the essence of its subject matter. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review K B The main DEA officer says "f**k" every sentence. It's overly forced & he's the worst actor in the movie. Besides him it would've been a great movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Kyle J I liked the three-stories plot line. The acting was very good. I wish the DEA story was clearer. The professor (Oldman?) was superb. I was happy about the ending(s). Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
