Justin Chang Variety This wannabe-inspirational docu shares its hero's devotion to preaching the gospel. But the film's emotional manipulations come at the expense of a more complex, illuminating look at the man himself. Mar 30, 2009 Full Review Nathan Lee New York Times The gee-whiz rhetoric and breathless amateurism of The Cross is not likely to inspire. Rated: 2/5 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post The documentary The Cross is not going to displace The Ten Commandments as the official movie of the Easter season. Rated: 1/4 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Jennifer Merin About.com It would be nice to be able to call The Cross a mockumentary. But the director's Christian Broadcasting background makes it extremely unlikely that his intention was provide viewers with a good laugh at the expense of the Blessitt Arthur. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 3, 2009 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A profoundly engrossing and inspirational film that candidly explores Arthur Blessitt's passionate heart, mind and soul, but feels somewhat incomplete without enough insight into his life beyond his courageous journeys around the world. Rated: 7.25/10 Apr 1, 2009 Full Review Frank Lovece Film Journal International Heartfelt but pedestrian, so to speak, documentary of an evangelist who for decades carried a 12-foot wooden cross around the globe to spread the gospel. Arthur Blessitt is my new role model! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow If u dnt believe in god after u watch dis sumthn wrong with u Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! I loved the editing, and to me, it revealed what I wanted to know. That this man has been transformed by his experience for real. For the budget, I was amazed and would and will gladly go pay to see it again. I have recommended it to everyone I know. It didn't tell as much about the man, because the message of the cross is laying down your life so God can work in and through you to love others. To me, those who were looking for more of Blessitt, didn't realize that if it were all about Blessitt, there would be no story or movie to make. It would be a man on his own mission. =) Well done! My husband was talking about this film and interested in the details before it ever came out, just hearing about what this man has been through. We have not stopped talking about it yet. I have never been impacted by a movie like this, other than when Fireproof came out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Inspiring! It was just what I needed to see at this certain point in my life. It was good to see there was ups and downs to his life journey but no matter what he was lead by his faith and love. [[Positive Vibes!]] I wouldn't really say it's the best movie but it is a good reminder of what is, who is important in our lives and that there's a certain destiny for all of us.
