To call the subtitles on this film bad would be the understatement of the millennium. I think had you put the Chinese into Babelfish and had it spit out English it would've been better than the subtitles included. On top of not knowing what was going on, the professor would stop the film periodically to explain what was going on, effectively doubling the runtime of the film. Or I assume, I dunno since I left like halfway through. The image quality was horrible and, as far as I could tell, nothing of interest was going on visually. The story was of the anti-nationalist variety due to Mao just having seized power from Chiang Kai-Shek. I imagine I would've given this film, at best, a 2 out of 5 had I known what was going on.
