Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express While both Ananya Panday and Vihaan Samat do their job well, the film truly feels potent only when it comes off the screen. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 4, 2024 Full Review Tatsam Mukherjee The Wire (INDIA) Despite its strong finish, CTRL would only qualify as a tepid Black Mirror episode at best. Oct 30, 2024 Full Review Anuj Kumar The Hindu Ctrl does generate an eerie feeling about the impending dangers of losing control over our life and relationships...but eventually unravels like a low-stakes thriller meant to keep the library of the streaming platform populated. Yash B "CTRL" gets props for being somewhat original for Indian cinema standards. The premise is unique and definitely takes inspiration from films like "Searching" and "Missing" in terms of its concept. I feel like the movie has some solid ideas but could have done a better job working as a thriller, as some movies feel a bit silly. The acting also felt a bit overdone at times and I feel the story being told through screens may have played a part in it. Overall, it is an innovative movie that goes for a unique style and doesn't always land, but it is still an enjoyable film to watch on streaming. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/07/24 Full Review vishal H I wasn't expecting but this film turn out really good for me. I think it's a first film of screen life genre in india and it's a really good try. Performances are really good and the concept is amazing. Screenplay is very engaging and having enough twists and turns. Well the runtime is too short to justify it and the climax is incomplete. Really good watch for those who wants to watch something fresh or new. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/24 Full Review Waniya S Ending is too real, like in reality people are silenced and threatened that their lives will be ruined if they said anything. It's fiction that yeah hits VERY close to home but still it's fiction, give me good endings. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Audience Member I'm mad at the ending, just why did all the efforts of joe and his friends goes down the ditch and let them die like that, if the they didn't have their justice? I like the main character's acting, chef kiss. It got so many potentials, and the pacing was good. But, at the end of the story........it just went down😔. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/25/24 Full Review Anubhuti B I was kinda looking forward to this movie. First of all, I must give it kudos for trying to bring a different kind of story to the Indian context. It's a commentary on the state of Indian cinema at the moment, more than anything about this movie. Sadly, it doesn't do much else. It's the kind of movie that you think should be made after getting drunk in a house party and bitching about influencers on social media. But what it doesn't have (and neither do those influencers) is imagination or forethought. As a concept, this is a well-worn route, with many movies/series made to show the technological dystopia that we are living in. It does not innovate on the concept at all. I would not be surprised at all if the script was written by AI, because the "twist" of the story was just terribly predictable, and handled even worse. Ananya Pandey's acting was what made me give it 2.5 stars because she has fast become the face of a disgruntled, tech-dominated generation. Rest were cookie-cutters, though I did like the AI-avatar's smile quite a lot.
