David Walsh World Socialist Web Site Various "daring" notions are tried out about America, about Hollywood, about sex, but none of them have much conviction behind them. It's largely a disappointing waste of time. Feb 10, 2021 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins The characters are so disagreeable and unlikeable that viewers won't care if everyone makes up, finds success, or murders one another. Rated: 2/10 Dec 7, 2020 Full Review David Lamble Bay Area Reporter A timely war romance into theaters despite the misgivings of studio executives. Jun 8, 2020 Full Review Chris Knight National Post ...a fun ride into history but maybe not worth playing again... Rated: 3/5 Apr 3, 2020 Full Review John Serba Decider You don't have to be a film buff to dislike Curtiz, but it doesn't hurt. Mar 27, 2020 Full Review Patrick McDonald WBGR-FM (93.7 FM - Monroe, WI) The black and white production values evokes director Michael Curtiz's smooth impressionistic style. Overall it's a fascinating and lovely film, and fans of CASABLANCA will really dig it. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 26, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Picture perfect cinematography and a worthwhile prelude to watching Casablanca again. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/22 Full Review Audience Member The dialogue was awful, performances were wooden. Stinkeroo! Save your time and watch the actual Casablanca film instead. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member An exceptionally well made film. Director Tamás Yvan Topolánszky's camera soaks up the smoke, shadows and spotlights in every frame and actors Ferenc Lengyel, as the title character, and Evelin Dobos, as his estranged daughter, are sensational. For lovers of cinema, this is a must-see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably needs at least a couple of views, there was a density of referencing to the film script within the speech of the characters, the real people's actions reflected the plot of Casablanca in many ways, and there was the baffling character of Lucas doodling cells of a comic featuring Star Trek characters and ships, something we tried to make sense of! Very stylish, the framing was reverential to the period it was depicting and the faces and make-up were very evocative. Of course, nobody smokes properly in films now which is kind of crucial to this particular period.... I would definitely watch it again at some point as a curiosity and preferably after having watched Casablanca itself again Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting was really bad. Hungarians affecting American accents. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review georgan g Unless you are a Casablanca expert, but sure to watch it before seeing Curtiz.
