Audience Member John "Shep" Shepherd (Chuck Norris) is a decorated detective always at odds with his superiors over his tough-guy methods. When an aged diamond cutter is kidnapped by a ruthless criminal Shep learns from the cutter's niece Elizabeth that her uncle perfected his skills during years as a prisoner in Auschwitz and that he holds a long-hidden secret technique to cut the perfect diamond a secret which if made known can significantly increase the market value of the precious stones. Now with the stakes sky-high Shep delves deeper into the cutter's past ultimately coming face to face with a criminal mastermind who will stop at nothing to gain the secret for himself. also stars Tracy Scoggins, Daniel Bernhardt, Bernie Kopell, Todd Jensen, Curt Lowens, Marshall R. Teague, Aaron Norris and Dean Cochran. directed by William Tannen. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member It's good to see Chuck Norris back in the game, but he could do a lot better than this half-baked poorly written direct-to-video festival of boredom. It's incredibly poorly acted and the cinematography is so shaky that it gave me a stomachache. The Cutter was crap, 'nuff said. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Chuck Norris gets beat-up. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Fairly routine actioner perhaps may go down as Norris' solo swan song (his small turn in Expendables 2 notwithstanding), and if it is to be, at least he went out with some style. The story is interesting enough with a plot centered around diamond cutting and former Nazis tracking down an old Jewish cutter from death camps. The movie makes time to give some spotlight to Bernie Kopell, who does well with the dramatic turn (far from his role in the various incarnations of Get Smart). But this is all about Norris, and he's still kicking ass and throwing people out of windows while being kind to pretty women in distress. Unlike Segeal, whose fights as of late seem to be just a bag of editing tricks, here you see that Norris is still doing most of the stuff himself. This means the action doesn't hold a candle to some of the stuff you see someone like Jason Statham doing, but at least you can still see it's Norris. The movie surrounds him with a solid cast that allows Norris to play off plenty of humor, especially with his lawyer and Tracy Scoggins is pretty good. The movie has the feel of the first of a set of tv movies that Norris would headline; but alas, this was not to be. For Norris fans, this is worth a watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible acting and a generic plot. Steer clear from this one.
