Audience Member The impeccable direction, dynamic editing and magnetic performance by the stunning Sveva Alviti compensate for a script that deserved a bit more polishing, even though it is efficient in the way it uses Dalida's songs to organically comment on episodes of the character's tragic life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member My mom being a bit of a fan, i surprised her one day after lunch and told her to grab her bag and off we went to watch the movie. First of all the film is very well shot, superbly photographed and designed, the colors, the locations and various others little details have been thoroughly crafted to create a unique world. Narrating the life and rise to fame of an iconic woman of the french repertoire. It's at times very dramatic and quite graphic but most of the time it's very enthralling and fascinating. Fan or not of the singer, one must salute the performances of Sveva Alvatti in the lead, supported by the immensely talented Riccardo Scamarcio as her protective brother. In the end it all worked out, my mom was overjoyed and we had a terrific, mother/son afternoon... what more can u ask? Jessica Kiang Variety A sentimentalized, shallow biopic that looks and sounds better than it is. Sep 8, 2017 Full Review Boyd van Hoeij Hollywood Reporter Despite running just over two hours, there is almost no sense of who Dalida was beyond the private lover and the public performer. Feb 12, 2017 Full Review Leigh Monson Substream Magazine One has to wonder who Dalida is even for, as it seems wholly disinterested in exploring Dalida as a character or celebrating her legacy as a musician. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 1, 2020 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed Dalida is one of those biographies that transcends the artist on screen and gives the viewer much more than a peep into her life; it gives them a full view of how she was, who she was, of her feelings, and what led to her becoming such an icon ... Rated: 5/5 Apr 12, 2020 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation American audiences, at least, can be excused for muttering "I don't get it" after watching this strained, dull and charisma-starved portrait of the international singing sensation. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 29, 2017 Full Review Courtney Howard Fresh Fiction Dalida stands as a stinging commentary on the female identity and the public's insatiable demands for more from their idols. It's absolutely phenomenal. Rated: A+ Nov 5, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
