Guy Lodge Variety There's an interesting film to be made about women cracking the drag scene, shuffling through complex layers of gender identity and identification, but this innocuous feel-good trifle hasn't exactly found it. Jun 3, 2021 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media The movie means well, but it also doesn't do anything to really push the genre to new and/or interesting places, nor does it really say anything about drag culture, drag representation, or gender generally, and for some, it could feel a bit touristy. Rated: 3/5 Oct 15, 2021 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens Dancing Queens doesn't just fail; it falls flat on its face, with the result about as glamorous as a Billy bookcase. Rated: 2/5 Aug 31, 2021 Full Review Jade Budowski Decider The film makes quite the mistake in giving a cisgender woman the spotlight in a queer space. Jun 4, 2021 Full Review Daniel Hart Ready Steady Cut The dance genre keeps on exhausting itself, but Dancing Queens deserves its respect. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 3, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Too disjointed. Some good dance moves but didn't make up for lack of a cohesive story. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Judy K I really enjoyed this. The actors are all very good. The story is a bit thin but the characters are so real and engaging that they caught me nevertheless - they all (the drag queens, and the girl, and even the grandmother) made me care about what was going to happen to them. And as a side benefit, I also liked seeing what it looked like in a country that's so foreign to me, the lovely sea and sunset and the night streets in the city. It's a feel-good movie, but it really does feel good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/21 Full Review Audience Member This is a perfectly entertaining and lighthearted film. I am not sure why some critics have been so negative--perhaps because they are unfamiliar with the subject or culture. What I am sure of is that I have watched it on several occasions with different friends and family each time and everyone loves it. Molly Nutley is a great actor as is Fredrik Quinones. I hope they make another one together. They had such great onscreen chemistry that it was like watching friends interact. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed Dancing Queens, it was emotional and had a good story. I would have liked a better ending though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Loved this movie!! The plot was wonderful and the filming locations were absolutely stunning. It did slow down a bit at one point where the drag queens should of recognized Dylan as being straight, but there was plenty to keep me glued to the movie. The dancing was beautiful and the drag queen portions of the movie (especially the dancing) were funny and engaging! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Clearly written by a straight person with romanticized and outdated ideas about drag. Hated it. Whole thing reeked of straight folks rewriting queer culture. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
