Dark Hollow is a creature feature and will certainly bring in the usual horror crowd for its grizzly effects Go to Full Review

This movie is only a partial success. The individual elements simply don’t come together as well as they could have. Go to Full Review

[T]he potential of this material is in its human concerns. The cheap monster stuff only proves that. Go to Full Review

Keven S @RT73041520 4 hrs ago The beginning was good. The supporting acting was a bit weak, but it’s a cheap indie horror so nothing out of the weird there, but the camera work, usage of horror themes, writing/story, etc were quite good. But for some reason around 1/3 of the way in the writing just took a nosedive, the characters suddenly became mentally handicapped to a degree that was frustrating to watch, and the quality of the creature effects really pulled me from the story. Seeing the silhouette and the movement initially was really good, catching a glimpse in the background here or there so the viewer can see what’s coming but the characters are as yet unaware were cleverly done. And then all the sudden a goofy puppet from star wars episode 4 before the remaster shows up. Also, none of the events leading up to the climax/resolution are explained whatsoever and the events of the resolution itself are nonsensical and don’t fit anything else that happened in universe. I assume the book explained better but man See more William S @MrBill2929 Sep 7, 2026 This movie contains an incredible performance by a rising young star, June Schreiner. MORE OF HER, PLEASE! The acting remains mostly good throughout, but ironically, The Creature/Dark Force is underdeveloped & isn't fleshed out enough for us to care, and ironically, what's really dragging down it down in the end. (Bonus Comment: Monster's Head look Gooify) See more C B @RT03025588 Sep 5, 2026 Probably based on a old Appalachian legend, although I have no proof. The first 40 minutes could have been compressed into 10 minutes- a dull drama about a company trying to buy up land in order to mine coal, and there is hardly any hint of a subterranean creature somehow behind it all, pulling the strings. In the last half, the monster reveals it's presence and a lackluster battle ensues, shot in almost complete darkness. If they made this film campy and humorous, I think it would have been better.
