The only truly epic thing about Darken is its ambitions - those hoping for a film that looks above and beyond the word "scrappy" will be in for a disappointment.

Within a building exists another world of connecting rooms and a society built around the myth of Mother Darken. When one of the cultists is cast out, she is found by a nurse. The cultist pleads for the nurse to help her friend. Entering a building, the nurse encounters the denizens of the world and becomes a hero. A pleasant find that doesn't deserve the 57% it currently holds on RT. This is a female driven scifi/fantasy tale without being one that hates men. I was very entertained and could forgive narrative and plot issues. It's a very interesting nod to Alice in Wonderland. Recommended. A strangely appropriate but accidental double feature which I viewed this and Shadow Master. Each has a similar theme of a stranger entering a building with it's own society.
