      Critics Consensus

A nonsensical plot and an absurd amount of violence make this revenge pic gratuitous and overwrought.

Stoner J Super underrated movie. It's not like the best but it's good enough that I've seen it many times over. There are some ridiculous choices they made in the gangster characters, tribal tattoos, muscle cars and long leather jackets, sound like gangsters? I think not, still a good flick Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Oren B Fkn a$shole "critics" gave it 20% = must be an excellent movie! And it is! If you like revenge against low lives enabled by the shitty left = social-democrats, you're in for a treat! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review allen p I know this movie has some age on it but I still have to give my input. One of the most action packed, edge of your seat entertainment movies you can watch! Another great movie starring Kevin Bacon! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Sean I really enjoyed this movie. I love the soundtrack in particular but I always liked Kevin Bacon. I know this movie gets a terrible rap. Okay, the storyline is fabled and possibly worn out now but I don't see the problem with a modern take on death wish. That's basically what it is. Yes, it's predictable but it really works. The bad dudes are proper horrible gits. John Goodman is a real piece of work. Gareth Hedlund the same. I think that a lot of the negative reviews are from fantasists who need a clever script in any film before it giving any credit whatsoever. Just overthinking it really. Yes, this film is pretty route one in it's execution but I really like it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/22/23 Full Review steve d A dark depressing unexciting mess of a film that's action fails to engage. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Peter R Emotional movie and i think any father would do that . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jan 8, 2008 Full Review Forrest Hartman Reno Gazette-Journal Once Death Sentence reaches the mid-point of the second act, it has become so ludicrous that Wan's excess is more likely to draw laughs than tears. Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com In all honesty, I didn't expect much from the film and I didn't get much. Rated: 1.5/4.0 Sep 5, 2020 Full Review Fred Topel We Live Entertainment Death Sentence shows there's even more to [revenge] than your own downfall. The cycle you get into spirals out of control. Perhaps it's more emblematic of Gandhi's statement 'an eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.' Sep 10, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
