John Brosnan Starburst A deserted ship is a naturally eerie setting and offers plenty of possibilities for a horror story - but Death Ship fails to realize its potential. Jul 26, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins A ghastly little sea-faring thriller worthy of a viewing. Rated: 7/10 Aug 31, 2020 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com For a low-wattage chiller with a few famous faces, Death Ship is entertaining, evoking an era when all a movie needed was a rusted boat and George Kennedy as a possessed Nazi to entice ticket buyers into theaters. Rated: C+ Feb 18, 2013 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It's not that bad considering how bad it could have been, and only distinguishes itself by colorful death scenes and how unintentionally funny it is. Demented N As ghost ship movies go it's the best considering there isint many it's definitely up there ! It has like 2 good moments and an ok cast just terrible direction and writing as with most horror creators it's the physical effects they go for more than the citizen cane writing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/15/23 Full Review SwampSkin It was certainly a death ship, I don't know the full background of the production whether it's working with what it's got or just lazy, but I quite enjoyed it. It has its fair share of corny moments and usual horror movie protagonist dumbness in some parts but I found this just added overall to the certain charm it had. The setting manages to create a creepy ambiance and overall it is quite a fun watch trying to spot some blunders in filming. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/23 Full Review Steve D Really cheesy despite the talent. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Eddy C Ok, its a B movie, but has a few great actors, George Kennedy is totally over the top. Richard Carena is so like Brian Cranston. The two kids are awesome and own the screen. Its low budget and a big budget remake would be superb. The Nazi story is great and could be developed by a new screen writer and director and make the movie better. But I had funwith this movie on a Sat afternoon. a lot of fun and I dont get the hate. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Christopher P This is an odd one. I think it falls in that weird time between the experimental/European inspired horror of the 70s and the slasher films of the 80s. Filmed like a TV movie, and if you cut out one sequence, it could have easily been one. I didn't dislike it, but feel it really didn't live up to its potential. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/28/22 Full Review the s This movie is brilliant in how badly it's done. Everything from the opening sequence of the wreck with stock footage pieces together from random eras and scenarios that make absolutely no sense to the laughably bad deaths and the anthropomorphism of the ship. There's nothing about this movie that is particularly good but the ironic thing about that is that it's still about 10 times better than 70% of the movies made in the past 20 years. No lie. Wanna know why? Because they at least tried. The actors do a fine enough job and they went to the trouble of filming it on a real ship. So when I say watch it for laughs, what I really mean is that despite how bad this movie is, it's still way, way better than most of the streaming content on Amazon Prime. Without doubt. And I'm not sure if that's a compliment to this movie or an honest criticism about how much garbage Amazon pushes as "content," but either/or, right? It's one of those late night movies that you watch when you can't find much else and you've lost all faith in any movie produced after 1985.
