Jaz K NOT a 92. An excersize in stupid. Five minutes into this mess I gave it a 35. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Audience Member It's A Stupid Film With A Dopey Dorky Premise. Was Neither Here Nor There For Me. I Didn't Find Much Buy-In Mostly Because The Depiction Of Characters Whom Were Meant To Be Near Impoverished & Struggling Was A Bit Off; They Seemed Well-Dressed, Covered In Make-Up & Not Looking Like Ppl Living On A Day-To-Day Basis. I Didn't Find It One Bit Believable & My Suspension Of Disbelief Didn't Kick In. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Did I just watched a Nickelodeon movie? A little tooo light hearted for my taste and perhaps my age. I was attracted by the idea of a dark comedy, the stealing of cargo from trains by high school teens, the story unfolded with all the coming of age clichés, sacrificing realism and a lot of suspension of disbelief. The end result was unsurprising, very corny and mindlessly sweet, enough to give you a serious tooth decay. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Dieibra & Laney has that rare quality of being both a lighthearted and well-made movie. Excellent cast (the parents relationship is my favorite), overall fun, entertaining with a touch of coming-of-age drama. I'd recommend this to anyone who likes indies but in the mood for something less heavy-hearted. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Cameron M After a decent premise with amusing humor and a good cast Deidra & Laney's final third is derailed by unwarranted character changes and a morally flawed outcome. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/18 Full Review Audience Member A pretty forgettable movie that really has nothing that stands out to it, good or bad. Just not much to it. Jude Dry indieWire [Sydney] Freeland is clearly having fun behind the camera, but broad and superficial performances mean the fun doesn't always translate. Rated: C+ Dec 18, 2017 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com As right-minded and good-hearted as the movie is, it can't steer clear of certain clichs. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 17, 2017 Full Review Aramide Tinubu Shadow and Act There isn't much that doesn't work in Deidra & Laney Rob a Train. Mar 16, 2017 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Murray is fantastic in this and the film is a reminder that she should be a much bigger star. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Kaitlyn Booth Bleeding Cool It's a little predictable, but the interplay among all of the characters is good enough that you're able to excuse it. Rated: 8/10 May 24, 2019 Full Review Li Lai Mediaversity Reviews It's life-affirming to watch a trans woman direct a movie about whatever the hell she wants.
