What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tony Scott tries to combine action, science fiction, romance, and explosions into one movie, but the time travel conceit might be too preposterous and the action falls apart under scrutiny.

It's a hard movie to hate, just one that's far too easy to forget. Go to Full Review

Take away a couple of neatly staged action sequences and you're left with a callously measured slab of US jingoism that deals with the most horrific human tragedies in the most lunk-headed and insulting way possible. Go to Full Review

It's Denzel himself, ambling through the nonsense with just the right degree of twinkling insouciance, who keeps you watching. Good fun. Go to Full Review

If one can get past the dubious technical details of the setup, the competent acting should take care of the rest of the entertainment. Go to Full Review

Sounds a bit dodgy, huh? Not when an in-form Denzel Washington is involved. He's the glue that keeps this absurdly compelling thriller together as it mashes up the present and the past to intoxicating effect. Go to Full Review

Although a certain amount of disbelief suspension is a necessity, the script tries exceptionally hard, and succeeds, in building a credible case. Go to Full Review

Shaun R Nov 16 It had more potholes than a road in Birmingham, but that’s what you get with most time travel films. Overall, it was entertaining enough, although the male casts obsession with a dead Paula Patton was down right weird. Could’ve done with much more Jim Caviezels character. I can take a far fetched movie but this movie presents it in a way were it makes it feel even more stupid and unrealistic. I like Denzel Washington. I like most of Denzel Washington's movies.
