      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Tony Scott tries to combine action, science fiction, romance, and explosions into one movie, but the time travel conceit might be too preposterous and the action falls apart under scrutiny.

Bruno V Filme bom com conteúdo e sem política; com atores de grande relevância. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Dan R Denzil Washington has made a lot of incredible films, but one of his most underrated films is 2006's 'Deja Vu'. SYNOPSIS: 'After a ferry is bombed in New Orleans, an A.T.F. agent joins a unique investigation using experimental surveillance technology to find the bomber, but soon finds himself becoming obsessed with one of the victims.' Director Tony Scott delivers a film which is part action thriller and part sci-fi drama. With his usual big budget explosions and effects thrown in for good measure. The technical details of the story are absolutely absurd and I'm not sure if the cast really knows what's going on or how things are supposed to work. But who really cares when the film is this good? Washington is the glue that connects all of the dots. He's superb as always and his performance, and the film as a whole, deserves more recognition. The story is quite original in it's delivery and it's a real delight to see how so aspects of the story come together. It's definitely a film to view more than once to appreciate the intricacies and details at play. Highly recommended. 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Spike G Denzel is great as always good movie Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Kevin M Great movie! I wish they still made movies like this. The cast was great, the script was tightly written and the dialogue was natural. Great mystery elements, good action sequences, the plot mostly made sense save for a few time travel related holes, but ultimately I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing and had no idea what was coming next. Highly enjoyable for any movie night! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Part Time H Sometimes a bit over the top but great performances and enticing story Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Alec B Obviously the premise is extraordinarily silly, but it's just coherent and entertaining enough to work (I like how Scott visually downplays the sci-fi elements). Washington's performance is a little too good for the movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Brian Tallerico UGO It's a hard movie to hate, just one that's far too easy to forget. Mar 24, 2007 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 1/6 Feb 3, 2007 Full Review David Jenkins Time Out Take away a couple of neatly staged action sequences and you're left with a callously measured slab of US jingoism that deals with the most horrific human tragedies in the most lunk-headed and insulting way possible. Dec 30, 2006 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins If one can get past the dubious technical details of the setup, the competent acting should take care of the rest of the entertainment. Rated: 7/10 Nov 21, 2020 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) Sounds a bit dodgy, huh? Not when an in-form Denzel Washington is involved. He's the glue that keeps this absurdly compelling thriller together as it mashes up the present and the past to intoxicating effect. Rated: 4/5 Sep 11, 2020 Full Review James Croot Stuff.co.nz Although a certain amount of disbelief suspension is a necessity, the script tries exceptionally hard, and succeeds, in building a credible case.
