Manny Farber The Nation Well composed out of a succession of panoramic shots and fast action scenes, the film suffers from Wise's loss of contact with realism in acting. Ashley H Destination Gobi is a decent film. It is about US Navy specialists who run a weather station in the Gobi desert where they are harassed by Japanese warplanes but aided by local Mongol nomads in 1944. Richard Widmark and Don Taylor give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Robert Wise did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the adventure and drama.
