Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Is there anything worse than a horror movie that isn't scary? Yes - a horror-comedy that's neither scary nor funny. Rated: 1/5 Jun 27, 2013 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh The amount of thought seemingly put into this movie was to slap "of the Dead' onto the end in hopes of confusing people into thinking it could have any connection to any other similarly named movie. Rated: 1/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X Detention Of The Dead isn't the best zombie movie ever (or even this year) or the best teen movie ever, but we've all seen worse examples of both genres, and as combinations go, it serves as diversion for the audience. Rated: B- Jan 26, 2019 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed This kind of fodder has been handled better in films like "Dance of the Dead," and "Shaun of the Dead." Oct 12, 2013 Full Review Matt Donato We Got This Covered Detention Of The Dead is a silly zom-com with plenty of funny high school stereotypes worth taking a bite out of, which our zombies do every chance they get. Rated: 7/10 Jul 1, 2013 Full Review Brent Simon Shockya.com The easiest and most honest line on Detention of the Dead is that it's better than it has any reasonable right or need to be, given its aims. max n Don't know why it gets so bad ratings. I found it funny and crazy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Good Zombie movie. Characters are well developed, a fun watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Hadn't seen a B horror/comedy movie in a while. This was entertaining given the material. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member How doth it hang? A mixture of high school kids ranging from smart but nerdy, popular but shallow, Asian drug dealer, gothic girl, and star football player are all in detention when a zombie outbreak plagues their town. They try to hold up in the school until they can be rescued but these misfits will have to work together to survive. Can these kids who couldn't work together in high school as friends work together to survive? "Won't the zombies get the munchies?" "They already have them." Alex Craig Mann delivers Detention of the Dead in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is Breakfast Club mixed with bad, low, budget cliché zombie plot. The special effects were okay and the acting was painfully mediocre. "You didn't finish!" I randomly came across this on Showtime Anytime and decided to give it a viewing. This was as bad as you'd expect and had little going for it. This was very straightforward, cliché, and added little to the genre. I recommend skipping this. "This is dry clean only." Grade: D Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review william s Horror/comedy zombie miss. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The gothic girl was cute lol Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
