Is there anything worse than a horror movie that isn't scary? Yes - a horror-comedy that's neither scary nor funny. Go to Full Review

The amount of thought seemingly put into this movie was to slap "of the Dead' onto the end in hopes of confusing people into thinking it could have any connection to any other similarly named movie. Go to Full Review

Detention Of The Dead isn't the best zombie movie ever (or even this year) or the best teen movie ever, but we've all seen worse examples of both genres, and as combinations go, it serves as diversion for the audience. Go to Full Review

This kind of fodder has been handled better in films like "Dance of the Dead," and "Shaun of the Dead." Go to Full Review

Detention Of The Dead is a silly zom-com with plenty of funny high school stereotypes worth taking a bite out of, which our zombies do every chance they get. Go to Full Review

The easiest and most honest line on Detention of the Dead is that it's better than it has any reasonable right or need to be, given its aims. Go to Full Review

Claudio C Jul 12 Detention of the Dead (2012) Silly and Unfunny (11,824 –11 Jul 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In Lincoln High School, the nerd Eddie (Jacob Zachar) joins the cheerleader Janet (Christa B. Allen), her boyfriend and football player Brad (Jayson Blair), the football player Jimmy (Max Adler), the drug dealer Ash (Justin Chon), his best friend and horror movies lover Willow (Alexa Nikolas) and the quiet Mark (Joseph Porter) in the detention for different reasons. Mrs. Rumblethorp (Michele Messmer) arrives to assist when Mark faints. Soon he becomes a zombie and attacks Mrs. Rumblethorp, wounding her neck. When they are leaving the room, they realize that they are under siege of a horde of zombies. They run to the bibliotic waiting for help, but they learn that ho help will come. “Detention of the Dead” (2012) is a silly and unfunny zombie comedy movie. One of the reasons for not working is Jacob Zachar in the lead role. The guy is not funny, and his character is obnoxious. The screenplay also is not good. The funniest scenes are with Justin Chon and Christa B. Allen, responsible for the best scenes. Alexa Nikolas is responsible for the logical attitudes. The scenes with Ash and Mrs. Rumblethorp’s head are the best moments of this forgettable movie. My vote is five. See more 04/20/2016 Hadn't seen a B horror/comedy movie in a while. This was entertaining given the material. See more 03/05/2016 How doth it hang? A mixture of high school kids ranging from smart but nerdy, popular but shallow, Asian drug dealer, gothic girl, and star football player are all in detention when a zombie outbreak plagues their town. They try to hold up in the school until they can be rescued but these misfits will have to work together to survive. Can these kids who couldn't work together in high school as friends work together to survive? "Won't the zombies get the munchies?" "They already have them." Alex Craig Mann delivers Detention of the Dead in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is Breakfast Club mixed with bad, low, budget cliché zombie plot. The special effects were okay and the acting was painfully mediocre. "You didn't finish!" I randomly came across this on Showtime Anytime and decided to give it a viewing. This was as bad as you'd expect and had little going for it. This was very straightforward, cliché, and added little to the genre. I recommend skipping this. "This is dry clean only." Grade: D See more 03/22/2015 The gothic girl was cute lol See more 01/10/2015 very very low budget...felt like they were trying too hard. utterly forgettable especially when there is better zombie movies out there.
