Inkoo Kang Los Angeles Times A repetitive, sluggishly paced nocturnal rumination on why we bother reuniting with old friends we purposefully left behind. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Damon Maulucci and Keir Politz make a fine feature debut with this small, punchy drama. Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Ernest Hardy Village Voice The script is solid, but the film's greatest assets are Levine's visage and performance. Apr 8, 2014 Full Review Mark Bell Film Threat The film is intriguing in its character study and journey, buoyed by the performances of its leads. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 11, 2014 Full Review John Beifuss Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) Sort of a minor-key, naturalistic variant on themes explored in Edgar Wright's 'The World's End,' as a suburban male 'soccer mom' is pulled back into a demimonde of punk rock music and sexual possibility by the surprise return of his 'toxic' old bandmate. Audience Member Damon Maulucci and Keir Politzs' low budget film packs more of a punch than most big-budget movies that often aim for what this film delivers. It is easy to call this film a "thriller" as it does build up a strong level of intensity. But Detonator is actually a realistic character study of a man on his way to becoming something more than he has ever been. He finds himself at a sort of existential crossroad and is quietly in crisis he tries to walk away from an unfulfilled dream to a reality that will most certainly be much better place. Lawrence Michael Levine is essential in the movie's lead. A great film that deserves more attention that it has received. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
