Audience Member Devil Face, Angel Heart gives itself out to be an erotic thriller, but in the hands of hack director Billy Chung even potentially good stuff have a tendency to turn into exploitative low end material. Devil Face is no low-water mark by far however. It actually boasts some great noir-drenched night shots and sometimes damn near expressionistic cinematography courtesy of Wong Ka Fai. But besides the obvious nose-decapitation scene, the camera also often seem to linger a bit too long on certain exquisite body parts of Gigi Lai for this movie to be taken seriously. But it makes a great guilty pleasure to watch and is of course a must for us Kelly Lin completeists, criminally brief her appearance might be though. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Devil Face Angel Heart isn't the most exciting or great movie but it has its moments. Daniel Wu plays such a sweet deformed face man who is working for bad guys to make ends meet with his brother. He has been used royally by the Dragon gangster and his whore. After a tragic backstabbing that nearly cost him his life, he underwent plastic surgery to restore his face so he is no longer deformed and went back to Hong Kong to take his revenge on the whore that had him killed after he did her a favor and killed Dragon whom used to beat her or so she says. The ending is a tear jerker, I really feel for this man who is so kind and gentle. Yet was used and framed royally, he had everything to lose. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member deformed hitman revenges. players and plot like 'mongkok' except darker and more disturbing. cast is strong but weak subplot and score, amaturely shot and edited sex scenes, and an incomprehensible end equates this to middling fare.
